Kitaboshi

Founded in Katsushika, Tokyo, Kitaboshi Pencil has been a pioneer in the Japanese stationery industry for over 70 years. Japan's pencil industry originally flourished in Tokyo’s historic downtown (shitamachi) area near a major timber depot, giving rise to over 200 local manufacturers across Katsushika, Arakawa, and Adachi. Today, only about 30 of these traditional factories remain. Kitaboshi Pencil proudly carries this generational craftsmanship forward, driven by the philosophy that "a pencil shrinks as it is used, but a person's mind expands."

The company is globally renowned for blending this heritage with modern innovation. Their signature product, "Otona no Enpitsu" (The Pencil for Grown-ups), revolutionized the stationery world by combining the tactile warmth of an authentic wooden pencil with the convenience of a 2mm mechanical mechanism. Deeply committed to sustainability, Kitaboshi Pencil operates under a zero-waste philosophy, recycling its wood shavings into innovative eco-products to share the nostalgic joy, unique scent, and exceptional quality of Tokyo's craftsmanship with stationery enthusiasts worldwide.
